In response to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia on October 26, the de facto authorities in occupied Tskhinvali have decided to close key border checkpoints. The decision was made during an operational session of the so-called "Security Council" of South Ossetia, chaired by the region's de facto president, Alan Gagloev.
According to the statement released by Gagloev's press service, the checkpoints at "Razdakhan" (also known as "Mosabruni") and "Perevi" will be closed to "ensure the safety of the population of South Ossetia and to exclude possible provocations by pro-Western and nationalist radical forces of Georgia."
Gagloev emphasized that Western intelligence services and embassies are actively working to destabilize the situation in Georgia during the elections. "Intelligence services and embassies of Western countries are already openly doing and will do everything to get the situation out of control in Georgia during the parliamentary elections," he claimed.
Gagloev also noted that, based on information from various sources, the political situation surrounding Georgia’s elections is becoming increasingly tense. "Parliamentary elections in Georgia will be held on October 26, and taking into account the received information, including from open sources, we see that the situation is getting complicated," Gagloev remarked during the meeting.
