The West is not stopping its efforts to destabilize the South Caucasus, particularly Georgia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with Russian media.
"The West is not stopping its efforts to destabilize the South Caucasus. A clear example of this is Georgia. The US and the European Union have decided to demonstratively punish the country, which unexpectedly 'dared' to play by its own rules rather than those imposed by them," the Russian diplomat stated.
According to him, the West is brazenly interfering in the country's internal affairs, attempting to overturn the sovereign choice of the Georgian people and their elected government in favor of peace and prosperity.
"They are pushing Tbilisi toward an adventure by opening a second front against Russia in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. They wanted the Georgian people to shed blood for foreign interests. At the same time, within the framework of international discussions on security and stability in the South Caucasus, the Americans and EU members hypocritically promote theses about peace," Galuzin said.
