Japan does not recognize legitimacy of the so-called parliamentary elections held in Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia on June 9, stated in the statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Georgia.

As mentioned in the statement, Japan opposes any attempt to change the internationally recognized borders of Georgia.

"Japan supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within the internationally recognized borders.Taking into account the mentioned position, Japan does not recognize legitimacy of the so-called parliamentary elections held in Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia on June 9.

Japan opposes any attempt to change the internationally recognized borders of Georgia", the information says.
