Thanks to Georgia's thoughtful and principled foreign policy, our country is today a leading state in the region in terms of stability and progress, and the contribution of Georgian diplomats to this is exceptional, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said in his speech at the event dedicated to Day of Diplomats.

The Head of Government congratulated the diplomats on their professional day and thanked them for their dedicated service and professionalism, which serves to strengthen and consolidate the country's interests, foreign policy priorities and sovereignty.

Celebrating the Day of Diplomats has already become a tradition and it is symbolic that this day is associated with the name of the outstanding Georgian thinker and public figure, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani, whose work laid the foundation for the development of Georgian diplomacy. This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the First Republic and an outstanding diplomat, Akaki Chkhenkeli. It is important that Georgian diplomats, following the example of these figures, continue their worthy service, serve the interests of Georgia, protect the country’s sovereignty and strengthen Georgia’s positions in the international arena.

The main priority of the Georgian government has been and remains de-occupation, the peaceful restoration of territorial integrity, peace and development. This is the answer to all the challenges of our state. Thanks to Georgia’s thoughtful and principled foreign policy, our country is today a leading state in the region in terms of stability and progress, and the contribution of Georgian diplomats to this is special.

The past 5 years and especially the past 3 years have been full of many challenges for our country, for our state, and in this situation, the role of Georgian diplomats has been special. We are proud that during these years the Georgian diplomatic corps and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia have served the national interests of Georgia in a principled and proud manner, and I would like to express my special gratitude to each ambassador, each employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia for this. Once again, I congratulate our diplomatic corps on its professional day, thank you and wish you success in your very responsible work,” the Prime Minister said.
