Batumi International Airport officially welcomes its millionth passenger of 2025, marking an unprecedented milestone in Batumi Airport’s history, TAV Georgia, a sole operator of Tbilisi and Batumi international, reports.
TAV Georgia projects that by the end of the year, passenger traffic at Batumi Airport will set a new record hitting 1.2 million.
The millionth passenger, German tourist Michal Natovich, who was travelling with her children, was honoured with a symbolic send-off ceremony.
Passenger traffic at Batumi Airport has grown significantly in 2025. The data for the first nine months show a 32% increase compared to the same period last year and a 90% rise compared to the pre-pandemic levels.
The peak month came in August 2025, when the airport served 213,636 travellers — the highest monthly figure in the airport’s history. On August 24 alone, Batumi handled 9,000 passengers in a single day and operated 35 flights.
Amid a growing demand, TAV Georgia continues to invest in infrastructure upgrades. This year, the runway was fully rehabilitated, the number of aircraft stands doubled, and new equipment was purchased. Expansion of the passenger arrival area and the passport control zone in the departure hall is also planned to further boost capacity.
