"Despite the dramatic spike in tourism after the pandemic, the market currently sees a downturn trend in demand," Ekaterine Gelovani, founder of Travel as Art, says.

In her words, travel activity and demand from Georgia have declined by about 30% largely due to consumer caution.

"Because of the changes in air travel, customers are worried, and that's to be expected. In previous years we had at least four requests a year from the same passenger, but now that number has been reduced by half ; demand has dropped by at least 30%," Gelovani stresses.

Commenting on prices, Ekaterina Gelovani points out that the post-pandemic price hikes did not deter tourism. On the contrary, demand and costs have doubled. Currently, there are no expectations of price decreases.

Apart from prices, the sector sis facing air travel challenges, especially on long-haul flights. Restrictions on certain routes forced tourism companies to seek alternative ways, which were frequently more difficult and expensive.

Gelovani explains that Travel as Art had never canceled tours before, despite the work process is becoming more complicated.
