The total number of active livestock and poultry slaughterhouses in Georgia in the II quarter of 2026 was 116, of which 19.8 percent were located in Kakheti region, 19.0 percent in Imereti region, 17.2 percent in Shida Kartli region, 13.8 percent in Kvemo Kartli region, 8.6 percent in SamegreloZemo Svaneti region, 7.8 percent in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region and the remaining 13.8 percent — in other regions.
According to the survey, 128.1 thousand heads of livestock were slaughtered in slaughterhouses in the II quarter of 2026, of which 27.3 percent were cattle, 65.6 percent – pigs and 4.1 percent – sheep and goats. The share of other livestock (excluding poultry) slaughtered was 3.0 percent. In addition, the number of poultry slaughtered in slaughterhouses during the reporting period amounted to 2 942.1 thousand.
In total 14.3 thousand tons of meat (i.e. slaughtered weight, including poultry meat) was produced by slaughterhouses during the II quarter of 2026, of which 31.9 percent was beef, 25.0 percent – poultry, 42.5 percent – pork, 0.6 percent – mutton and goat meat, while the share of other meet was negligible.
The service was provided to 7.8 thousand persons, 48.8 percent of which were households. Average monthly number of persons employed in slaughterhouses equaled 1 076 persons. The average prices of the slaughter services were: 47.0 GEL per cattle, 36.7 GEL per pig, and 16.4 GEL per sheep or goat.
In the II quarter of 2026 the number of active cold storage facilities in Georgia was 302 and most of them were located in Shida Kartli region (51.7 percent). Active cold storage facilities were also located in Tbilisi (13.9 percent), Adjara AR (8.3 percent), Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region (7.0 percent), Imereti region (6.0 percent), Kvemo Kartli region (4.3 percent), Kakheti region (3.3 percent), Samtskhe-Javakheti region (2.6 percent), Mtskheta-Mtianeti region (1.7 percent), Guria region (1.0 percent) and Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region (0.3 percent.
