“As per the two quarters data, the tourism sector earned $1.8 billion in revenue from foreign tourists,” the head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration Maya Omiadze states.
Omiadze expects the winter season to be successful as the country's ski resorts have their own clients. She adds that the tourism sector’s revenue will meet forcasts made at the beginning of the year.
“After a successful championship in cross-country skiing held last year, we were included in the International Ski calendar. A large number of fans and foreign guests arrived in Bakuriani and Gudauri,” she says.
"According to the data of the first three quarters of 2023, more than 5 million 600 thousand international travelers visited Georgia, the tourist sector recovered by almost 80% of the pre-pandemic levels. It’s worth mentioning that a 43% growth was registered compared to 2022. The number of international arrivals stood at 3,655,576 in 9 months that is a 91.6% recovery of the
2019 level and a 35.2% increase compared to 2022", the head of the National Tourism Administration notes. She points out that the rapid recovery of tourist arrivals is caused by the correct strategy and the marketing campaigns of the National Tourism Administration.
