With the support of the National Wine Agency and its contractor company “Le Pont Caucasien,” a presentation of Georgian wine took place at the “Salon Savim” wine and gastronomy festival in the city of Marseille, France.
Festival guests had the opportunity to discover wines of various denominations from up to 10 Georgian wine-producing companies and small wineries. Georgian wine at the festival was presented by Ilia Kakhoidze, an oenologist based in France and the head of “Le Pont Caucasien.”
The “Salon Savim” festival is one of France’s leading wine and gastronomy events, attracting more than one hundred thousand visitors annually, including thousands of wine professionals, representatives of the HoReCa sector, and consumers. In total, around 450 wine producers from various countries around the world were represented at the festival.
One of the main directions of the National Wine Agency’s activities is the promotion and increasing awareness of Georgian wine in international markets. As part of its efforts to support the promotion of Georgian wine, since 2013 the Agency has been implementing targeted advertising and marketing campaigns aimed at market diversification, including in countries renowned for winemaking, such as France, where demand for Georgian wine—especially qvevri wine—has been steadily increasing. According to data from the first 10 months of the current year, 116,000 bottles of wine were exported from Georgia to France, which exceeds the figure for the same period of the previous year by 75%.
With the aim of increasing the export potential of Georgian wine and diversifying markets, and with the financial and organizational support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine was presented at 29 exhibitions and festivals, as well as at up to 250 tastings and seminars, across the United States, Europe, and Asia—in total, in about 20 countries—during the first 10 months of 2025.
