The most popular country for Russians to buy residential real estate abroad is Thailand. 14% of demand in January-July 2024 came from this country. Georgia is the second with 12%, the United Arab Emirates is in the third place. The Russian media writes based on the international brokerage company Tranio.
Last year, Georgia was the sixth in the ranking, due to the decrease in demand for real estate in Turkey early this year, our country moved to the top three. As the Russian media writes, experts explain the interest in the country by the low entry threshold ($35 thousand), as well as by the migration of some Russians there.
As for the purposes of purchasing real estate, if in 2023 almost 30% of Russians considered buying real estate abroad to obtain a residence permit or citizenship, in 2024 this share dropped to 18.9%. At the moment, Russians consider buying real estate the best investment.
