For Georgia, development is not measured solely by unprecedented economic growth indicators. We firmly believe that achieving progress requires peace, security, quality education, innovation, and people-centered policies that create genuine prosperity for current and future generations, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated while opening the 16th Tbilisi Regional Forum on Sustainable Development.
According to the Prime Minister, the strategic visions developed within the framework of the forum will make a significant contribution to shaping a stronger, safer, and more sovereign future for Georgia.
"I am pleased that Tbilisi continues its long-standing tradition and is hosting the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the sixteenth time. The forum has acquired the status of a major global platform. I am delighted that our capital remains an important center for international dialogue in the region.
In recent years, we have faced numerous global challenges, and against this backdrop, this year's main forum message - 'Sustainable Development for Socio-Economic Well-Being' - has become even more relevant.
Amid growing international tensions, when major powers are urging smaller countries to choose sides, it becomes crucial for us to make full use of diplomacy. It is therefore logical and natural that the forum's agenda also includes some of the most complex and pressing geopolitical issues. Discussing such topics is fundamentally important in identifying ways to ensure our national security and economic resilience."
Kobakhidze noted that the forum's thematic panels are closely linked to Georgia's strategic objectives, including strengthening sovereignty, ensuring energy security, examining the role of large hydropower plants in achieving energy independence, developing human capital, promoting innovation, and implementing sustainable urban reforms.
"Of course, a special place is once again dedicated to the peace platform. Without long-term stability and peace, it is impossible to speak about progress or prosperity.
For us, development is not limited to unprecedented economic growth figures. We firmly believe that peace, security, quality education, innovation, and people-centered policies that create real prosperity for today's and future generations are essential to achieving progress.
I am confident that the strategic visions formed within the forum will make an important contribution to shaping a stronger, safer, and more sovereign future for Georgia."
The Prime Minister concluded by thanking the forum's organizers, partners, and participants.
"I would like to thank the organizers, partners, and participants of the forum, and I wish everyone productive discussions," Kobakhidze said.
