In the I quarter of 2023 compared to the same quarter of previous year the volume of business sector turnover increased by 14.4 percent and amounted to 44.1 billion GEL. The production value of the business sector is characterized by the increasing tendency. In the IV quarter of 2022, its volume equaled to 15.9 billion GEL, which is year-on-year 13.0 percent more.
In the I quarter of 2023, 69.3 percent of total turnover comes on large and 14.0 percent – on medium businesses while 16.7 percent is distributed to small business. A small difference is in case of total production value: 49.2 percent comes on large, 23.0 percent – on medium and 27.8 percent on small businesses.
In I quarter of 2023, total purchases of goods and services carried out by enterprises equaled to 24.1 billion GEL (year-on-year 9.0 percent more), while the purchase goods and services for resale amounted 15.7 billion GEL (year-on-year 10.9 percent more).
In the I quarter of 2023, the average number of persons employed equaled to 716.1 thousand, which is year-on-year 6.3 percent more. Out of the total number of persons employed, 43.3 percent are female and 56.7 percent are male.
44.0 percent of total number of persons employed comes on large, 20.7 percent – on medium and 35.3 percent - on small businesses. The total number of employees amounted 677.2 thousands (year-on-year 6.3 percent more). The total personnel costs of enterprises equaled to 3 645.8 million GEL (year-on-year 26.2 percent more). In the I quarter of 2023, average monthly remuneration of employed persons equaled to 1 759.1 GEL (year-on-year increase by 279.4 GEL) while remuneration of employed women made up 1 395.5 GEL (year-on-year increase by 208.8 GEL). Average monthly remuneration of employed persons by size of enterprises is as follows:
• LARGE BUSINESS – 1899.4 GEL
• MEDIUM BUSINESS – 2 030.1 GEL
• SMALL BUSINESS – 1 368.7 GEL
In the I quarter of 2023, the trade sector (including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles) has the highest share (37.6 percent) in the total turnover in business sector, followed by arts, entertainment and recreation with 32.3 percent share, manufacturing – 7.8 percent, construction – 4.9 percent, transportation and storage – 4.5 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – 3.4 percent and other sectors with 9.5 percent share.
In the I quarter of 2023, manufacturing (21.2 percent), trade (19.2 percent), construction (14.9 percent), and transportation and storage (8.9 percent) are on the top four places in business sector production value. Rest of sectors have the 35.8 percent share.
In the I quarter of 2023, trade (wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles), manufacturing and Human health and social work activities are leading in business sector by number of employees (accordingly with 27.9 percent, 12.3 percent and 10.3 percent share). However, Enterprises engaged in transportation and storage (8.2 percent), construction activities (8.0 percent), Information and communication (5.9 percent) and Accommodation and food service activities (4.9 percent) have also a significant share.
