In 2022, the Tbilisi City Hall banned external trading near the Varketili metro station and dismantled illegal constructions of vendors. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said at the time that street traders would be relocated to special trade zones.

Early this year, the construction of a new shopping center behind the Varketili metro station was discussed at the Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly session and approved a New Development Regulation Plan, which had changed several times.

As part of the new project, a 7-storey shopping mall will be built on an area of 40,000 square meters near the Varketili metro station. The project is carried out in collaboration with the company "Urbaniki."

"Varketili Mall is a multifunctional shopping and business center, in which will enter various stores, catering facilities, entertainment and recreational spaces. We have paid special attention to recreation areas that makes our concept even more outstanding.

Varketili Mall is a key location in the eastern part of Tbilisi, adjacent to Varketili metro station. It is one of the important urban, commercial and transport corridors of the city.

A 7-storey building with 45,000 sq.m of internal space is located on 12,000 sq.m, with 3,000 sq.m of recreational area, open and closed parking lot.

“A multifunctional building concept that meets the needs of users of different ages and interests  is designed for their comfort,” says Urbanika

The total cost of the project is $30 million.

According to the plan, the construction of the mall will be completed in 2025.
