According to Vano Mtvrashvili, Executive Director of the Association of Waste Management Enterprises, the Association will inaugurate a tire recycling plant in Batumi, Executive Director.
Speaking on "Commersant" radio, he also stated that the plant will be capable of recycling truck tires.
At this stage, we are considering exports of raw materials from used tires to Turkey, as this industry is quite developed there, and mainly rubber is produced. In the first phase, approximately 5,000 tons of tires will be processed annually. Given the lack of culture and experience in this field in Georgia, the scale at the initial stage is relatively modest, but we hope that in the future, we’ll be able to process the entire volume of used tires.
"For recycled oil, we gather about 650 tons annually. The process here is much more efficient: every gram is either recycled on-site or sent to Europe for raw material production," Vano Mtvralashvili points out.
