“July and August are fully booked, but activity in the resort of Bakhmaro is lower than last year,” Giorgi Kechakmadze, owner and director of the Panorama Bakhmaro Hotel in the high mountain resort of Bakhmaro, says.

According to Kechakmadze, the hotel management has not raised prices, the cost of a room in the hotel varies from GEL 200 to 350 per day.

“July and August are almost fully booked. The activity has decreased compared to last year and reaches 60% of the 2022 levels. But we still hope that August will be more active,” he notes.

Giorgi Kechakmadze adds that the resort is visited mostly by locals who stay here for 10 days or 2 weeks. Tourists  from China, Germany, Thailand and Saudi Arabia also visit the resort.

Staff shortage remains a serious problem for the resort.

“The main reason for the personnel shortages is low wages. We had to search for a chef in Kutaisi, in the positions that do not require serious skills, mostly locals are employed,” Giorgi Kechakmadze points out.
