Gvirila's founder, Lasha Chocheli, confirmed to Pirveli TV that investigators had asked them for information and database access. In his words, the company will hand over all required information today.
When asked about the potential of price regulation, Chocheli says the process will show.
" Regarding artificially inflated prices and cartels, Chocheli doesn't believe chain supermarkets were behind it, pointing out that finding matching prices for any product is exceptionally rare.
"Networks like Gvirila have a gross margin of 19-19.5%, from which we cover all expenses, and I don't know under which circumstances prices may be cut. Stores don't have the ability to enter into cartel agreements; prices might coincide for very rare goods, I'm speaking on behalf of the network. I don't know at what price the distribution company imports a product and then sells it. We, the networks, have our own policy and markup," says Chocheli.
Representatives of the distribution company were summoned to the government administration regarding price regulation.
