The Revenue Service has begun inspections of foreign car dealers operating in Georgia in several directions, including non-payment of taxes and the creation of unequal competitive conditions for Georgian car dealers.
Alexander Noniashvili, Chairman of the Association of Auto Importers, commented on this matter on the air of "Commersant" radio. According to him, inspections have already been carried out on several dozen non-residents, who have been fined a total of over 1 million GEL.
Based on the information I have, markets and car centers, including those under their ownership, were subject to checks. When doing business in Georgia, whether you are a resident or a non-resident, you are obliged to comply with the requirements established by law.I think this is enough for the initial phase, but for inspections to yield results, they need to be conducted systematically.
"Regarding the problems faced by Georgian car dealers due to non-residents, they don't pay taxes, we have an oversupply in our country, they also buy and sell cars at dumping prices. "As a result, Georgian dealers were pushed out of the logistics chain, and many had to cease operations entirely. That's why we approached the government, and we hope that the state will keep a close eye on things," states Alexander Noniadze.
