Georgian wine and spirits production company Bolero & Company is set to produce cognac specifically for the Russian market.
The Russian "Kommersant" reports that the cognac Daliani will be produced by order of Stellar Group, the owner of the beverage brand, which is known in Russia for its vodka Veda and the brand Old Barrel.
Stellar Group confirmed to Kommersant that the brand of cognac belongs to the company, although it is bottled under license at the Georgian manufacturer’s factory.
According to Rospaten, since the beginning of the fall of this year, the alcohol producer Stellar Group has submitted several applications for registration of the Daliani cognac trademark. Finally, the company received a declaration of conformity for the supply of Daliani cognac from Georgia produced by a local enterprise Bolero & Сompany Ltd.
In November 2023, Ukraine sanctioned Vakhtang Karichashvili. Official Kiev accuses Karichashvili and his company of being connected to sanctioned Russian companies. According to the sanctions document, Georgian companies owned by Karichashvili mainly earn from the sale of products on the Russian market.
Note: The sole beneficiary of the companies is Karichashvili Vakhtang, who has Russian citizenship and is also a business partner of Bidzina Ivanishvili's cousin.
