"The norm is taken from the Traffic Law, according to which, all motor vehicles in Georgia will be subject to technical inspection from 2018.

"These types of vehicles are already subject to a periodic technical inspection. As you know, these vehicles pollute atmospheric the most. They are already under inspection, but due to the existence of certain shortcomings in the enforcement mechanisms, the standard is increasing to close the euro regulations and technical inspection will be carried out by different standards and  the auto fleet checking will be completed within two years, " Ketevan Salukvadze told InterPressNews.

According to her, after the legislative amendments are made, technical regulations concerning  technical inspection centers, their buildings and staff will be presented to  the government. In Salukvadze’s words, inspection centers that will meet the regulations will be able to continue technical inspection. The government will also define the standards the motor vehicles must meet.

"Both technical regulations have been developed and will be presented to the government in the nearest future," Ketevan Salukvadze adds.

The amendments to the Law on Motor Transport and other laws are being discussed at the Human Rights Committee today.
