Norway produced 360 million cubic meters (12.7 billion cubic feet or Bcf) per day (MMcmd) of natural gas last month, 12.3 percent more than the official forecast, government data showed Tuesday.

Gas output in 2024 has grown consistently year-on-year. July’s figure was also up from 345.8 MMcmd (12.2 Bcfd) in June, according to the data released by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate.

The Nordic country, a key gas supplier for Europe, sold 11.2 Bcm (395.5 Bcf) of gas last month, up by 800 MMcm (28.3 Bcf) compared to the prior month.

Norway produced 1.8 million barrels per day (MMbd) of oil in July, up from the prior month and stable compared to July 2023. July’s petroleum production beat the projection by 5.9 percent.

Total liquid production stood at 2.1 MMbd while gas and liquid production totaled 691,000 cubic meters (24.4 MMcf) of oil equivalent per day, topping the forecasts by 6.2 percent and 9.3 percent respectively.

The latest quarterly gas market report of the European Commission showed Norway remained the European Union’s biggest source of pipeline gas in the first quarter of 2024, accounting for 54 percent.
