The European Parliament will vote on an EU loan of EUR 90 billion to finance Ukraine's military needs on Wednesday, Politico reports, citing European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.

According to the statement, the center-right European People’s Party, the center-left Socialists and Democrats group, and the liberal Renew Europe group have agreed to fast-track the vote. The move would allow the European Commission to raise funds on international debt markets backed by the EU’s long-term budget.

Support from the three groups provides the necessary majority to approve changes to the EU budget and the existing mechanism for financing Ukraine.

The vote had initially been scheduled for later this month, during a special session on Feb. 24 marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, but it was moved to an earlier date.
