Drones struck the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refinery in Russia’s Bashkortostan on the morning of July 14, BBC’s Russian service reported.
Local residents reported hearing a series of explosions before a fire broke out near the facility.
The news agency added that the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat plant is located nearly 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian-controlled section of the border with Russia.
The Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat facility is one of Russia’s largest petrochemical plants. According to The Moscow Times, the plant processed 7.2 million tons of crude oil in 2024 – nearly 2.7% of Russia’s total oil refining capacity.
Ukrainian drones struck the Salavat oil refinery twice in September 2025, triggering a fire at the plant’s primary distillation unit. According to Radiy Khabirov, the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the facility maintained normal operations following the attacks.
Drones also struck the Afipsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai earlier that day, causing a fire near the facility's storage tank farm.
