By compiling a range of factors, including wine production, the number of wine-tasting tours, and the average bottle cost, the travel and luggage experts at Bounce have revealed which nations are the best places to travel for wine lovers.

This year, Georgia scores 6.18 points out of 10, taking the 8th place. According to Bounce, Georgia produces 49.7 liters of wine per person, and consumes 26.4 liters, while vineyards cover 0.7% of the country's total area. According to the index, the average price of a bottle of wine in Georgia is $6.68,

there are around 6.1 wine tasting tours per 10,000 square kilometers. Given all this, Georgia overtook the big wine exporters and consumers, including New Zealand, Australia, Greece and South Africa.

It’s worth mentioning that this year Georgia's rating dropped down three positions at once, but the 2023 Wine Lovers' Index was significant for Georgia, in which our country took 5th place and overtook France. Georgia's high position in last year's rating was due to a different methodology, since tourism attractiveness was calculated not by land area, as happened this year, but by population. Last year, there were 211 tasting tours per million residents in Georgia that is one of the highest rates in the world.

Portugal retains its title as the best country for wine lovers, scoring 8.96 /10. Portugal has a rich history with wine, and because of this, many travel here specifically to experience its fruit-filled vineyards. The proximity of wine regions to Lisbon makes the city a perfect destination for wine lovers looking to sample the country's amazing vintages or take part in a wine-tasting experience.

Bounce also revealed the 10 worst countries for wine connoisseurs. Wine is generally used in China as a symbol of wealth and status, and it is common to receive high-quality wine as a gift on special occasions. More than 684 million liters of wine are consumed in China, but due to the sheer number of people in this country, this equates to just 0.5l per person.
