The use of seat belts may also become mandatory in the back seat of vehicles.
The introduction and regulation of this obligation is discussed in the National Road Safety Strategy for 2026-2030, which the government approved by resolution on August 5.
The document emphasizes that in the context of modern road safety, the use of seat belts is considered one of the main tools for preventing deaths and serious injuries from road accidents.
“According to studies, the use of seat belts by passengers in the back seat plays an important role in protecting the lives and health of both the said passengers and the people in the front seat. Therefore, establishing a mandatory rule for the use of seat belts in the back seat of a vehicle and its appropriate regulation is of particular importance.
To achieve a high level of culture and sustainable use of seat belts in society, it is necessary for the state to take complex steps. Therefore, it is planned to establish an appropriate normative base and ensure an effective enforcement mechanism regarding the above-mentioned issue, and on the other hand, to proactively implement targeted social campaigns and educational initiatives, which will lead to raising the level of awareness of the population,” reads the National Road Safety Strategy for 2026-2030, approved by the government.
