As of 9 months of this year, a record number of flights were carried out at the airports of Georgia. The number of regular flights operated from January to September stood at 22,125,
the number of charter flights – at 6,556. Overall, the number of flights operated in 9 months (28,681) exceeded by 18% the number of flights in the same period of 2024 (24,348).
In January-September, Georgian airports served 6,489,755 passengers that is 14% more than in the same period of 2024 (5,682,304). Tbilisi International Airport served 4,067,202 passengers that is 12% more than in the same period of 2024. Kutaisi International Airport handled 1,407,814 passengers that is 10% more than the number of passengers transported in the same period last year. The largest increase was recorded at Batum International Airport. In particular, in 9 months the airport served 995,099 passengers, which is 32% more than last year.
Freight transportation saw robust growth in the third quarter. In just 9 months, the volume of goods carried by air reached 25,905.2 thousand tons, marking a 50% increase in cargo turnover compared to the same period in 2024. The usage of Georgia’s airspace has also increased. Specifically, in comparison to the first 9 months of 2024, the use of Georgian airspace (including take-offs, landings, and overflights) increased by 5%. A total of 229,972 flights were recorded from January to September.
Wizz Air remains the leader in the Georgian aviation market by the number of passengers handled from January to September 2025. The airline holds 17% of the market share, having transported 1,065,618 passengers. The top ten airlines, ranked by the number and percentage of passengers transported on international regular and charter flights, are as follows:
