The number of those with private health insurance has grown.

The Insurance State Supervision Service reports that 21% of Georgia's population is currently covered by private health insurance.

In twelve months of 2025 insurance providers issued 785,361 valid health insurance packages. The volume of packages issued over the year saw a growth of 44,187, up from 741,174 in 2024.

Note: direct insurance premiums collected in 2025 totaled 1,411 million GEL. During the same period, uinsurers reported an underwriting profit of 348 million GEL and a net profit of 129 million GEL. The combined assets of insurance companies stood at 1,584 million GEL with capital totaling 513 million GEL.


As of December 31, 2025, a total of 19 insurance companies were registered and licensed for both life and non-life insurance.
