"Online shopping from abroad is booming in Georgia. In 2025 alone, about 20 million packages arrived in the country, worth around 2 billion GEL in total."

"The Georgian E-Commerce Association reports that the value of foreign shipments grew by 604 million GEL (42%) last year. Remarkably, this annual grow is more significant than the total value of shipments in 2020."
"The surge in consumer activity is evident in the numbers: Georgia saw an increase of 4.8 million parcels in 2025 compared to the previous year. Chinese platforms remain the key market drivers."

"The main source of e-commerce growth is orders from China. Last year, China accounted for almost 70% of all packages sent to Georgia, both in number and in value."

"A total of 13.7 million parcels worth 874 million GEL were sent from China to Georgia, averaging 64 GEL per parcel. The market growth is driven by aggressive marketing campaigns from Chinese online platforms—such as Temu, Shein, Alibaba Group, and Pinduoduo—as well as affordable shipping options for consumers."

"Online orders from Russia grew nearly 5-fold over the year

A notable spike was also observed in inbound parcels from Russia, with the volume rising by 474% in 2025 compared to the previous year."

"In the past year, 1.1 million packages were sent from Russia to Georgia, with a total value of 52.5 million GEL. With an average price of 47 GEL per package, it is clear that most of these shipments are low-value items.

This surge in Russian online retail is linked to the expansion of platforms like Ozon and Wildberries, which have expanded their operations in the Georgian market."

Most parcels do not surpass the 300 GEL threshold.

Statistics show that the vast majority of parcels that arrived in Georgia in 2025 — totaling 19.3 million — were worth less than 300 GEL, making up 97% of the total volume.

"Total value of parcels in this category hit 1.2 billion GEL. VAT-taxable ones accounted for over 582,000 units, valued at 849 million GEL.

The average value was 62 GEL for non-VAT parcels and 1,455 GEL for VAT-taxable ones."

Online sales generated 152 million GEL for the state budget. The taxation of international parcels brought in 152 million GEL in VAT in 2025 up by 18 million GEL from the year before.

The data reveal that the growth of e-commerce in Georgia is mostly attributed to affordable international online shopping, where Chinese platforms dominate the market.
