The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has started an official visit to the Republic of Lithuania.
According to the Presidential Administration, the welcoming ceremony of the President of Georgia was held at the Vilnius International Airport.
The President was met at the Vilnius International Airport by: Chancellor of the Republic of Lithuania Agila Barzdiene, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia Andrius Kalindra, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Lithuania Salome Shapakidze and Military Attache Irakli Uchadze.
High-level meetings are scheduled with the Lithuanian President, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Seimas.
The Presidents of Georgia and Lithuania will make joint for to the media after face-to-face and extended meetings.
The President of Georgia will lay a wreath at the memorial of the heroes who died in the struggle for the independence of the Republic of Lithuania and will visit the Museum of the Occupation and Freedom Fights of Lithuania.
The President of Georgia and the First Lady of the Republic of Lithuania will visit the Ukrainian Center opened during the war in Ukraine for displaced persons.
According to the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Lithuania, Salome Shapakidze, such a high-level visit of the President of Georgia is very important. It will contribute to further strengthening and deepening of bilateral relations between the countries. The visit is also timely, in the context of European integration.
The President of Georgia has left for Lithuania together with a delegation, which includes: Members of the Parliament of Georgia - Aleksandre Elisashvili and Teona Akubardia, Head of the Administration of the President of Georgia Natia Sulava, Advisor to the President of Georgia on Relations with International Organizations and Socio-Economic Issues Ketevan Tatoshvili.
