We expect that the law will be changed. I have been here for 3 days with the delegation and we are not here for a vacation. We have words, promises, commitments, but all this must become a fact, - the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, said at the press conference relating to the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence.
He also spoke about the deadline for when a working group can be created regarding the said law and said that it will happen in less than a month.
"We expect that the law will be changed. I have been here for 3 days with the delegation. and we are not here for a vacation. We worked actively, met with everyone and received a promise that we will finally work together next week and start changing the law, and of course we expect that this will happen. This is clear. It is also clear that we have words, promises, commitments, but all this must become a reality. We will need time. Do you want me to say in the middle of the day who will be in the working group? We need to find experts. Our experts will be there too, they are busy, they are working hard. In addition, the Christmas holidays are starting. I cannot give such a strict task to the Venice Commission to gather tomorrow. We will organize it. This is a matter of weeks, not years - up to a month. Of course, we want all this to be done qualitatively and the process to start moving forward. The first step forward will be this commitment, a clear commitment. We agreed that this would be done. We will work with the participation of experts and we expect that in a few weeks we will be able to start working with specific actors,” Berset said.
