Gudauri infrastructure, primarily the internal roads, does not stand up to criticism – all the roads are full of incredible potholes, Tsotne Japaridze, the founder of the travel company Traffic Travel Georgia, says.

According to Tsotne Japaridze, the situation on the roads in the resort is the same as in the 90s.

“The ski slopes and lifts are in perfect condition that I can only hail. This is not surprising, but we are surprised when something works well considering that nothing is done well in our country . But the infrastructure, for example, internal roads, does not stand up to criticism, all the roads are full of incredible potholes just like in the 90s. Even snow cannot hide a poor condition of the roads ,” he notes.

Another problem is the heavy freight traffic on the way to the resort that creates great discomfort for tourists.

“Trailers travel through Gudauri to Upper Lars and then to Russia. Georgia has hidden trade with Russia, God knows whether sanctioned or non-sanctioned cargo is transported, we cannot find out this. The number of trailers has increased and drivers have to go up to Gudauri in the trailer corridor creating serious threats to their safety. The situation on the road negatively affected the resort with very great potential to become one of the best resorts not only in the region, but in the world,” Tsotne Japaridze concludes.
