The volume of loans issued by commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in May 2023 increased by 959.72 million GEL or by 2.14% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.88%) and constituted 45.73 billion GEL by the end of May 2023. The volume of loans in national currency increased by 286.06 million GEL (1.14%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency increased by 673.66 million GEL or by 3.41% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.55%).

By the end of May 2023, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to 7.36 billion GEL (0.10% more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted 12.45 billion GEL (3.19% more; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in foreign currency increased by 0.34%).

During May 2023, the volume of lending to resident household sector increased by 2.18% or 525.43 million GEL, and constituted 24.68 billion GEL by the end of May 2023.

Larization ratio for total loans constituted 55.34% by the end of May 2023 and decreased by 0.55 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.14 percentage point), compared to the end of April 2023.
