At the end of February 2024, commercial banks issued 8.64 billion GEL loans in national currency (0.98% more than the previous month) for resident legal entities and loans in the amount of GEL 14.46 billion in foreign currency (0.35% more than in the previous month) (without exchange rate effect, more by 1.26% ).

According to the National Bank, in February the trade sector was lent most heavily in the amount of GEL 703.8 million in national currency and 297.7 million GEL in foreign currency.


Followed by the industry sector with 105.5 million GEL of loans in national currency and 155.4 million GEL in foreign currency.

The third is the construction sector, commercial banks lent it with 69.4 million GEL in national currency and 179.3 million GEL in foreign currency.

Banks issued the smallest amount of loans to the education sector, 1.8 million GEL in national currency and 5.4 million GEL in foreign currency.
