According to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, as a result of optimization in state-owned enterprises, a total of more than 700 million GEL has been saved.
As he stated at the government meeting, the saved amount will be used to strengthen the resources of the relevant state-owned enterprises.
"Very important steps have been taken in recent months, especially in state-owned enterprises operating under the Ministry of Economy. Overall, the total annual savings, including both the measures already implemented and those planned in the coming weeks, amounted to more than 700 million GEL. We have also made significant personnel changes. The heads of almost all state-owned enterprises have changed. All of this ultimately allowed us to make changes. I repeat, the annual savings reach 700 million GEL and more. As for the optimization of personnel in the energy sector, as a result of the optimization of the personnel of operating state-owned enterprises, we have achieved annual savings of 22.6 million GEL, which is an impressive result. As for the optimization of other costs, we are talking about tenders, reducing service costs, etc. In this section the total savings amounted to 348.6 million GEL. This shows that with the right staff and the right approach, it is possible to qualitatively improve cost-effectiveness. This is an annual savings. These funds will be returned to the economy, will actually be spent on the economy, will be used to strengthen the resources of the relevant state enterprises, and you can judge for yourself how much all this will contribute to the development of the economy. These saved funds will be spent on projects that are oriented towards accelerating the pace of economic growth,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to him, in addition to state enterprises, reorganization was also carried out in a number of public institutions.
"As you know, reorganization was carried out in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. Here, too, a total of 2,641 million GEL was saved during the year. Reorganization-optimization was also carried out in the Ministry of Defense, where savings amounted to 6.463 million GEL. This optimization will help the relevant ministries to further improve the efficiency of their activities. As a result of the optimization carried out in the administration of the Government of Georgia, a total of 2 million GEL was saved. As you know, on our initiative, the paid position of advisor was abolished in all state agencies and state enterprises. This position was used to provide a specific person, and there were quite a few of them, with a high salary in exchange for a small workload, which is not an acceptable practice. Accordingly, we responded to this practice with appropriate legislative amendments. The enactment of this law alone allowed us to save many millions of GEL in state agencies and enterprises.
