Our recommendation is – a softer intervention than an aggressive one or price administration, because this would create more problems than benefits, - said Shota Berekashvili, Head of the Parliamentary Price Regulation Commission, while presenting the conclusion at the commission's session.
According to him, the conclusion made by the Parliamentary Commission is based on strategic directions.
“The conclusion is based on three directions. First, it is a systemic transformation, which is a medium-term period, from 6 to 9 months, and it will be based on the Unfair Trading Practices Directive, best practices. The conclusion cites models from different countries - Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Spain, the Netherlands.
The conclusion is based on general strategic directions, as it will be sent to the executive authorities and will be elaborated there in more detail.
The long-term strategy includes reducing and shortening the logistics chain, as well as promoting local production and developing the private label direction.
The experience of 4 countries has been taken, and if the executive authorities consider it necessary, our recommendation from this is - a softer intervention than an aggressive one or price administration, because this would create more problems than benefits,” said Shota Berekashvili.
