During the last 2 years, we have had a strong, 10% economic growth, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, said while presenting the annual report to the Parliament.
According to the head of the government, the country's economy grew by almost 30 billion GEL in 3 years.
"I would like to tell you in more detail about our activities. I would start with an overview of the economy in general. For the last 2 years, we have had strong economic growth, 10% economic growth. I also want to say that just 2 years ago, the country's economy, gross domestic product was about 50 billion GEL, in 2021 it was 60 billion, last year it was 72 billion GEL, and this year we expect that the gross domestic product of the whole country will be about 80 billion GEL. During 3 years, the economy of our country grew by almost 30 billion GEL. This figure will be 8,200 dollars per capita this year. We remind you that 3 years ago, in 2020, the gross domestic product per capita was about 4,500 dollars. I would also like to note that the so-called external vulnerability was decreased. Last year, the account deficit in relation to GDP improved by 6.3 percentage points and equaled the historical minimum - 4.1%. If we compare the deficit of the current account in relation to the GDP in 2012, which was 2 times higher, we have made significant progress," said the Prime Minister.
