Electricity consumption by industrial data centers in Georgia is growing rapidly, the centers are mainly engaged in cryptocurrency mining and are situated in the free industrial zones of Tbilisi and Kutaisi.

Statistics from the State Electricity Commission reveal that the companies’ output has tripled this year, reaching 556 million kilowatt-hours in January- September. This accounts for 5% of the country's total electricity consumption.

The surge in cryptocurrency production correlates with a notable increase in the assets value. At present, the price of one bitcoin stands at $108,000.

As for the companies, AI Tech Solutions Ltd ranks first in electricity consumption, consuming 309 million kilowatt-hours. The company is based in Tbilisi, at the Gldani data center, which was formerly home to Bitfury.

Texprint Corporation, located in the Kutaisi Free Economic Zone (FIZ), holds the second position by electricity consumption. From January to September, the company consumed 112 million kilowatt-hours.

In third place is the company «TFZ Service», which consumed 104 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. In turn, this company is not involved in mining but supplies electricity to other mining companies located in the industrial zone. Also, IT lab’s consumption stood at 24.6 million kilowatt hours and Data Hub’s- at 7.2 million kilowatt hours.
