The head of the Wheat Producers Association expects that the introduction of a temporary duty on flour import will cause price hikes for other bakery and confectionery products , but not soon and sharply.

Prices of other bakery products will rise, however, not right now as the decision will come into force on June 10. Until then, flour will be imported at a rather low price, which is artificial, although the market is saturated and stocks can be created," Levan Silagava notes.

A temporary import fee on flour will come into effect on June 10 and will be valid for 5 months. Association of wheat producers and grain farmers have been demanding this decision from the government for a long time.
