The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, together with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and other members of the Georgian government delegation, visited Georgia’s exhibition space at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai. This year, Georgia has been honoured as a Guest Country of Honour, with a presence spanning three pavilions and covering a total area of 1,000 square metres.
The Minister described the visit to the People’s Republic of China as highly significant and successful.
“During this visit, we held high-level meetings, including with the Chinese Premier. We also signed crucial memoranda and agreements that will further strengthen trade, economic and people-to-people relations between Georgia and the People’s Republic of China. We are confident that following this visit, Georgia-China cooperation will strengthen considerably,” Mariam Kvrivishvili stated.
The Minister also praised Georgia’s participation in the Shanghai International Import Expo, noting that this year is particularly significant as it marks Georgia’s first appearance as a Guest Country of Honour.
“To ensure high economic growth and to enable businesses and the state to generate greater and more stable revenues, diversifying export markets and supporting Georgian entrepreneurs represents our foremost priority. China is a vital trading partner for Georgia, and further strengthening this partnership, facilitated by free trade between our nations, is of paramount importance to our country. It is precisely through participation in such targeted, results-oriented and large-scale events, combined with close collaboration with the private sector, that we will ensure the growth of Georgian product exports to the Chinese market. All of this will strengthen our entrepreneurs and increase the production capacity for Georgian goods. An export-oriented approach is particularly crucial for our country’s economic growth and sustainability, as well as for the stability of our national currency. Accordingly, every opportunity will be used to the fullest extent,” the Minister emphasised.
According to Minister Kvrivishvili, 40 Georgian companies are presenting their products at the exhibition.
“These companies have the opportunity over the coming days to showcase, worthily, the diverse range of products manufactured in Georgia at this exhibition, where Georgia is represented through three pavilions. Within the framework of the expo, we can, together with the private sector, introduce Georgian products to local Chinese companies,” the Minister noted.
Kvrivishvili also drew attention to another Georgian pavilion, where visitors can experience Georgian culture, as well as taste Georgian cuisine and Georgian wine.
“We are confident that over the coming days we will, on the one hand, further increase Georgia’s visibility in the Chinese tourism market and, on the other hand, ensure that through our joint efforts we facilitate the growth of our entrepreneurs’ product exports to the Chinese market,” the Minister concluded.
The agency Produce in Georgia organised Georgia’s participation in the China International Import Expo. The agency’s partners include the National Tourism Administration and the National Wine Agency. Georgia is participating in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) for the seventh consecutive year.
