Approximately $6 billion in capital expenditures have been spent on activities for the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) project since its commissioning in June 2006 up until the end of 2024, BP's Vice President for the Caspian region, Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, wrote on social media, Report informs.
Aslanbayli noted that the pipeline has transported roughly 591 million tons (over 4.4 billion barrels) of crude oil, which has been loaded onto 5,862 tankers at the Ceyhan terminal for global distribution.
Spanning 1,768 kilometers, the BTC pipeline primarily carries the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) oil and Shah Deniz condensate from Azerbaijan. Additionally, it facilitates the transportation of regional crude oil and condensate volumes from the Caspian region (including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and other outputs by SOCAR in Azerbaijan).
