The temporary parliamentary committee on prices starts its active work today.

The initial meeting, slated for several hours, is expected to include representatives from food companies.

Discussions will cover meat, dairy, and egg producers, market structure, the price chain, and operational processes within this sector.

Shota Berekashvili, who chairs the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy,
notes that an open discussion will lead to a decision acceptable to all sides.

"Our objective is to explore with them the business processes associated with local production and to identify what processes are causing the product cost to go up, what inflationary trends have we seen in recent years, how can we best address and optimize these processes, and where can we find opportunities to boost the competitiveness of businesses and production which will ultimately lead to lower consumer prices," Shota Berekashvili points out.
