The lack of significant domestic demand encourages the product exports.

According to Shota Burdzhanadze, the founder of the GDB company, there are many snail farms in Georgia, but the competition is not very high as they all export the product to Europe, where the demand is very high.

“Georgia has established itself as a country with very good conditions for snail farming, jointly with our Italian partners we are trying to make Georgia one of the largest snail producers in the world. We do not work in the local market due to the lack of demand, but even if the demand was, the low price would make it impossible to compete with exports,” he notes.

The snail farm was created with Italian investment and has been operating for almost a year now.
