Compared to the pre-pandemic period, Kutaisi International Airport recorded a record number of passengers. According to the Union of Georgian Airports, in May, 126,864 passengers used David the Builder Kutaisi International Airport (May 2019- 64,745 passengers).
Apart from the passenger flow, the number of flights from Kutaisi International Airport also hit a historical high. Before the pandemic, in May 2019, 210 flights were performed. In the same period of 2023, the number of flights increased by 80%, Kutaisi airport handled 378 flights.
Compared to the pre-pandemic period, a stable increase is recorded in the number of passengers at Kutaisi International Airport during five months. In January - May, Kutaisi International Airport served 502,323 passengers that is 74% more than in 2019. The number of flights operated in five months also hit a record high.
Kutaisi International Airport handled 1,591 flights that is 66% more than in the pre-pandemic period.
From June 1, 2023, WIZZ AIR returned its third aircraft based at Kutaisi International Airport and performs regular flights to Madrid, Brussels, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Poznań. Starting from June 4, the Kazakh low-budget airline FlyArystan added the Almaty-Kutaisi-Almaty route .
On December 1, 2023, Kutaisi International Airport will receive the fourth Wizz Air aircraft and add the Copenhagen route.
The Union Airports of Georgia reports that at this stage five airlines operate from Kutaisi International Airport. Flights are performed to 34 destinations in 17 countries.
