The cost of glass bottles and jars imports to Georgia has risen. In 2025, Georgia imported 145,453 tons of glass bottles and jars worth USD 79.9 million, compared to 155,959 tons valued at USD 71.7 million in 2024.
Sakstat reports that the import of glass bottles and jars has become approximately 20% more expensive.
As per the data for 2025, Russia accounts for half of the total glass bottles and jars imports. In 2025, Russia raised its import price by 39% year-on-year (from an average of $412 per tonne in 2024 to $571 in 2025).

Note: A government ban on the sale of food and beverages in plastic bottles and packaging will take effect on February 1, 2027. It’s worth mentioning that Russia accounts for 50% of Georgia's glass bottle and jar imports.
