Sakstat reports that imports of pistachios to Georgia soared by 70%. In 2023, the country brought 1,710 tons of pistachios worth $3.3 million against 1,010 tons worth $2.2 million in 2022.
Last year the main suppliers were Türkiye and the USA. It’s worth mentioning that American pistachios are about 40% more expensive than Turkish ones.
The list of pistachio importers is as follows: Turkey - $1.75 million (1054 tons), USA - 1.5 million (634 tons), Greece - $46,000 (22 tons), Germany - $3,400 (0.14 tons).
Pistachio exports declined by 15%, but in monetary terms it increased by 300% - in 2023, 19 tons of pistachios worth $162,000 were sold, in 2022 - 22 tons of pistachios in the amount of $46,000.
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are Georgia’s main export markets.
