"Tourists come from China, Thailand, India, etc. They demand 5-star standards, but want to pay a low price," Levan Dadvani, owner of the Lahili hotel in Svaneti, says.
According to him, the hotel is actively accepting advance bookings, but, as Levan Dadvani asserts, this segment of tourists is more spontaneous than European one.
"The number of tourists is growing, but the purchasing power is falling drastically. The segment of visitors has completely changed and turned upside down," says Levan Dadwani.
As the hotel owner notes, compared to the same period of last year, a decrease in demand in the winter season was observed, and the hotel’s occupancy rate is currently fairly high.
"Demand in this winter season dropped by about 15-20% compared to the previous year, although it was a normal season due to good snow in the resort. As for the current season, May is generally characterized by higher levels of tourism activity due to holidays in post-Soviet countries, and currently the occupancy rate of hotels is up to 50%," the owner of "Lahili" points out.
Note: the 25-room Lahili Hotel, located in the town of Mestia, started operating on the market in 2021.
