The creative director of Balenciaga fashion house has been called one of the most influential contemporary designers since the early 2000s. The Georgian-born designer trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium, before proceeding to leading design teams at Maison Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton. After that, he made a name for himself being a primary designer for hot up-and-coming Parisian brand Vetements. His work at Vetements made it a popular name among the cool fashion crowd, and it even earned a LVMH Young Designer Prize nomination.
In 2015, Demna was named creative director of Balenciaga and later left Vetements in 2019 to put 100% focus on the French house.
Gvasalia’s clothes are worn by world show business stars, including members of the Kardashian family (Kim Kardashian is one of Balenciaga’s muses), as well as pop star Taylor Swift, singer Celine Dion, actress Nicole Kidman, models Bella Hadid and Naomi Campbell.
