The 10% tariffs imposed by the US may boost competition, Anano Bezhanishvili, co-founder of the dried fruit company "Chikori", says commenting on the new tariffs imposed by the United States and their impact.
She refrains from making an exact forecast about how this decision will affect Georgian companies.
"The 10% duties imposed by the US will definitely have a certain impact in the long term. On some European countries higher duties were imposed, it is not excluded that rival products on the American market will hike in price which can help us compete with Europe," says Anano Bezhanishvili.
Products made under the brand name "Chikori" are exported to the United States and other countries. According to Anano Bezhanishvili, at this stage 50% of "Chikori" products are sold on the local market, 50% are exported.
