The Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that the United States did not issue a visa to the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Alexander Alimov, who was to take part in the UN Security Council meeting.
Nebenzya voiced this during the Security Council meeting itself, which brings together 15 member states chaired by China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and at which Alimov was due to attend. The Russian ambassador called the visa refusal to the Russian diplomat a “violation of the United States’ obligations.”
