The Ambassadors of the G7 countries discussed the most urgent needs following Russia's large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure with Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.
Representatives of key Ukrainian energy companies also took part in the meeting: Naftogaz of Ukraine, Ukrenergo, and Energoatom.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss Russia's large-scale attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure, as well as support for Ukraine against further attacks, and to meet the most urgent needs.
With the onset of autumn, Russia launched a new wave of attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The main targets were thermal power plants, thermal power stations, and other energy system facilities. The Chernihiv and Sumy regions were hit, causing massive power outages and the introduction of power cut schedules.
The situation was most severe in the Chernihiv region. In particular, the Russians struck Nizhyn and Pryluky, damaging infrastructure.
