Kaja Kallas, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs of the European Union, announced today that ambassadors of EU member states had agreed to impose new sanctions targeting 19 officials and entities affiliated with the Iranian regime over accusations of committing serious human rights violations.

In a post on the platform X (Twitter), Kallas stated: “The European Union continues to hold Iran accountable,” noting that the sanctions target actors responsible for grave violations.

She added that the European Union will continue to protect its interests and pursue those responsible for internal repression, stressing that the move sends a clear message to Tehran that Iran’s future cannot be built on repression.
